Additionally, more advanced and adaptive ways of surfacing inspector-like UIs have evolved in both third and first party apps. Compound this with the navigator’s ability to hide dynamically as well as the fact that zooming is so much easier on iPadOS than Mac, and you realize that even smaller iPads might be ok with this approach.
The area a slide would be afforded on an 11” iPad Pro if the persistent inspector panel were to its right is more than sufficient already. Limiting the inspector to popovers on everything except the 12.9” iPad Pro is, at this point in time, lazy.
